Locked knee

•Knee is locked when there is a spongy block to full extension

•Causes are

oBucket handle tear of menisci

oLoose body; intermittent locking

oPartial rupture of anterior cruciate ligament

oRupture of posterior cruciate ligament

oDislocated patella (reduce these)

oOsteo-chondral fracture of femoral condyles

•Refer all cases of locked knee to orthopaedics

•Don't try to force the knee straight
