Hand injuries

Hand injuries have profound implications, so extra care is needed in assessment, documentation and treatment. Document whether the patient is right hand dominant and use names for fingers rather than numbers and use palmar, dorsal, ulnar and radial for orientation. Assess for tendon function individually using specific tests. Always examine wounds under local anaesthesia to assess for tendon injuries. |
