Greater tuberosity


Displaced ( >1cm), refer to orthopaedics

Epiphyseal separation in children require orthopaedic referral.


Neck of humerus


Undisplaced or displaced in elderly are treated with broad arm sling, fracture clinic follow up

Displaced (>1cm)/angulated (>45o) may require ORIF, refer to orthopaedics


Shaft


Check radial pulse and radial nerve function

Fractures with minimum displacement/angulation : U shaped slab and fracture clinic

Fracture with severe angulation/displacement will require manipulation, refer to orthopaedics

If in doubt about degree of angulation/displacement then discuss with orthopaedics
