Supracondylar fractures March 2018 | by EMauthor Children •Always check for the radial pulse and the function of the median, radial and ulnar nerves •Radiographic signs can be subtle, ask for senior advice if in doubt, a comparison of the opposite side is an option •Check the radiographs for Displacement, Backward Tilting, Medial or Lateral Tilting. Displaced fractures, those with a backward tilt of more than 15 degrees, and any degree of medial or lateral tilting should be referred to orthopaedics Adults •The majority may require internal fixation, refer to orthopaedics Condylar fractures Especially if displaced require internal fixation, refer to orthopaedics |
