Olecranon bursitis March 2018 | by EMauthor •Painful red swelling over olecranon •Caused by inflammation and or infection of the adventitious bursa at the olecranon •There may be a primary cause such as gout •Treatment consist of rest, antibiotics such as flucloxacillin and penicillin with NSAID •If there is associated cellulitis, arrange for a follow up within 48 hours. If the condition is not improving then an orthopaedic consultation is required |
