Tenosynovitis March 2018 | by EMauthor Extensor tenosynovitis •Painful swelling of the extensor tendon sheaths of the wrist and finger •History of repetitive movement at the wrist •Obvious swelling along extensor tendons with crepitus •Treatment consist of rest and support of the wrist in futuro splint, NSAID and GP follow up if needed DeQuervain’s tenosynovitis •Similar to the above but affecting the tendons of abductor Pollicis Longus and Extensor Pollicis Brevis. •Treatment include support of the thumb with futuro splint with thumb extension, exercise and NSAID with GP follow up Stenosing Flexor tenovaginitis (trigger finger) •Inflammatory modularity of the flexor tendons of fingers causes locking in flexion •Try to unlock the finger. Follow up by GP |
