Toddler's fracture March 2018 | by EMauthor •Aka Spiral fractures of tibia •Can occur after trivial injury, like twisting the leg while weight bearing •There will localised tenderness over the shin with or without inability to walk •Initial x-rays may not show the fracture •If strongly suspected with negative x-ray, put the leg in a walking POP and arrange an A&E review in 10 days time with repeat x-ray •Could be a sign of NAI in non walking children, infants and newborns; quite common in walking children. |
