Vaginal Discharge March 2018 | by EMauthor •Perform vaginal examination •See also section on PID •Not strictly an ED presentation but does commonly present, particularly when GP facilities are unavailable •Creamy white discharge indicate candidiasis. If discharge only, take a swab and advise GP follow up, send the swab results to GP. Treat only if there are symptoms like pruritus or vulval irritation, you can use Canestin pessaries with GP follow up •Green or purulent discharge indicates Sexually Transmitted Disease. Refer to Genito-Urinary Medicine Clinic (Open access). Don’t start treatment as it may confuse the clinical picture |
